If you actually read this and have any ideas, let me know at cj@kenna.net - although I still really like the idea of a business page. Would rather give my fellow classmates business than strangers!
October 28, 2002: Okay.... it's been 2.5 years since we were first told that the main Hopkins site was implementing a business directory... so here's an idea..... let's go ahead as we'd originally planned with our own and set a good example for the Office!
Are you interested in listing your business in a Hopkins '86 Business Directory? This page would be linked from the main Hopkins web site, and therefore would be accessed by all Hopkins Alumni. The great advantage of the Directory is that those of us who need services and/or products would rather give alums the business than non-alums.
This is also an excellent opportunity to list yourself and/or business even if you don't own your own company, as the directory will be a great place for the wider Hopkins Communiy to network with each other.
We're in the "interest" stage of this now - if there's enough interest, we'll go ahead and do it. So if you're interested in accessing hundreds of Hopkins "customers" who'd like to give you their business, or like the idea of networking with Hopkins folks, send an email to me at cj@kenna.net
Your business listing would cost $25 a year - I'll donate the time in getting the listings up, and you'd then send the $25 payment directly to Hopkins as a donation. DO NOT DO THIS YET. Just send me an email indicating your interest - if there's enough interest, we'll do it and raise a bunch of money for Hopkins in the process!
May 23, 2002: The Development Office has yet to implement their business pages. Stay tuned...
July 23, 2000: Mary Ginsberg of the Development Office reports that the Hopkins Alumni Office had the same idea we did. They're in the process of developing a business/networking page for all Hopkins Alumns, linking off the main Hopkins site. Mary thinks the page should be live and accepting listings by early fall. When the Hopkins Business Pages are ready, this site will link to it directly.
